She retired from Firestone Manufacturing in Noblesville. Colleen was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in New Castle and attended Hazelwood Christian Church in Muncie, in her later years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Colleen also liked to travel, attended Bible studies and to visit the senior center in New Castle.
She is survived by two sons, John (Patricia Rinberger) Thomas and Don (Robin) Thomas, both of New Lisbon; grandchildren: Mariangela Glaze, Jeremy Thomas and Nathan Gniffke, three great-grandsons, Andrew, Adam and Alex Glaze, brother, Will "Ed" Suratt of Suphur Springs; sister, Creola Richards of Albany, KY; many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Alexander Thomas, a son Ron Thomas; siblings: Cecil Suratt, Norman Suratt, Logan Suratt, Opal Guinn, Ruth Thurman and Arthur "A.B." Suratt.
Services will be Friday, June 1,2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. James Petty officiating. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
