Regina Ann Baker, age 94, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Snyder Village in Metamora.

Born in Hazelton, PA to Henry and Ellen Schnitzer, the oldest of three children. She graduated from Hazelton High School and worked for the US Navy Shipyard in Philadelphia during the course of WWII, then returned to Hazelton and married Eugene Baker on Thanksgiving Day in 1947. Regina and Eugene just celebrated their 70th anniversary this past year.

Regina lived in the Peoria area for over 55years and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She worked at Bergner’s in the 1960’s and 70’s in the toy department. Besides a love for gardening, she was an avid tennis and golf player and enjoyed traveling. During her husband’s retirement years, they traveled the world extensively together and loved visiting their extended family members scattered across the US.

Survivors include four children: Mark (Susan) Baker of Eureka, Dan (Luann) Baker of Florida, Ted (Gina) Baker of Washington, and Paul (Connie) Baker of Colorado; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary, and brother Hank.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Snyder Village for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 9:30 AM till time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.

Memorials in Regina’s memory may be made to Snyder Village.
