Mrs. Daniel was a native of Columbus County and served her country in the US Navy as a member of W.A.V.E.S. and of Naval Intelligence during WWII. She attended Atlantic Christian College, Barton College and was a graduate of Wake Forest. Margaret worked with the Baptist Foreign Mission Board and was a school teacher at E.S.H. Greene, Chesterfield County, VA. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro where she was a member of "B.B. Bongers" hand chimes church and was an Honorary Life Member Presbyterian Women. She also was a substitute teacher for Asheboro City Schools. In addition to her parents Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, James Carlyle Daniel, and sister, June Wright.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave. in Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Special thanks to friends, church family, staff of Christian United Outreach Center and staff at Cross Road Retirement Community who made it possible for Margaret to live independently until the final weeks of her life. She was thankful to be independent for so many years.
