Mrs. Esther Naomi Roberts age 89 of Salem passed away Wednesday, May 23 at her home.

Mrs. Roberts was born June 4, 1928 in Missouri the daughter of Ross and Rillis Crites Cates.

She was a homemaker and a former employee of Bata Shoe Company. She was a Baptist by faith.

Esther was preceded in death by three sons: Hobart Roberts, Herbert Roberts and an infant, Michael Roberts, an infant daughter: Barbara Roberts, a brother: Isaac “Bud” Cates, a sister: Emma Mills and her parents.

She is survived by five daughters: Venita Jones of Pennsylvania, Sharon Babcock (Randall) of Salem, Sadie Baker of Corydon, Sally Roberts of Louisville, and Ellen Willis (Ron) of Charlestown, a daughter-in-law: Linda Roberts of Salem, two sisters: Erma Ruth Cates of Fort Wayne and Ella Mae Arnold of Custer, Kentucky, 14 grandchildren, 1 step-granddaughter, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kansas Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10AM-time of service.
