Richard L. Bender Sr., 56, of Auburn, died at 12:55 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Hospital.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. Before his retirement Jan. 1, 1984, Mr. Bender was employed by Fiatallis Manufacturing Co. for 30 years. Mr. Bender and his wife, Doris, celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on March 12.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delsie Bender; one brother, Jack and one sister, Lois.
Surviving are his wife, Doris; one son, Richard L. Jr. of Pawnee; one daughter, Mrs. Johnette Gilmore of Auburn; one brother, William of Springfield; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Bill Oaks officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
