Amos C. Bower, 78, Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette on Thursday, May, 24, 2018 at 4:44 p.m.

Amos was born in Lafayette, Indiana on September 26, 1939. He was the son of the late Marion C. and Mary E. (Richardson) Bower. Amos was raised and educated in Lafayette, moving to Attica in the early 60's.

He worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica for over 50 years, working as a maintenance machinist. He retired from Harrison Steel in 2010.

Amos served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Attica Fire Department and also served as an auxiliary police officer for the Attica Police Department.

He enjoyed bowling and bowled on many leagues at the Shawnee Lanes in Attica. In his early years he enjoyed building Go-Karts and mini bikes. You could usually find Amos at the Crossroads Restaurants with his friends drinking coffee and listening to the latest news of the community. His favorite time was spending it with his family and especially with his grandchildren.

On June 8, 1974, Amos married Geraldine Smith at the home of Art and Peggy Anderson in Attica.

He leaves behind his wife, Geraldine of 44 years, along with his four children, Jimmy Dean Bower, Attica; Debra Lynch, Attica; Lori (Matt) Coats, Veedersburg and Crystal Crowder, Attica; his two pet dogs, Roxie and Topaz; a brother, Larry Bower, Scottsville, Kentucky; two sisters, Caroline (Fred) Wagoner, Clearwater, Florida and Marybelle (Jack) Smock, Rossville, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Adam) Noggle, Sonya (Brandon) Harper, Beth Anne (fiancé-Todd Wisniewski) Farrar, Jackob Wesley, Cameron (Staci) Wilson, Jalesa (fiancé-Austin Thomas) Wesley, Brandon Farrar and Colt Bower; eight great-grandchildren and expecting two great-grandchildren soon.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marion Eugene, Donnie, Kenny and Joe Bower along with three sisters, Esther Smart, Edna Pierce and Beverly Emery.
