She was the wife of the late Col. Edwin C. Wilson.
Born in Lincoln University, PA she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ella Crowl Nieweg.
Velma graduated from Oxford High and West Chester Teachers College. After one year of teaching, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps and served two years. She married while in the service and accompanied her husband on most of his assignments during his twenty-two years of service.
Her hobbies were stone masonry, gardening and quilting.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorna D. Wilson of Newark, DE and Rebecca K. Lewis of Landenberg, PA; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ella Luff.
She was preceded in death by one son, Terrence E. Wilson and one grandson, Zechariah Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the New London Presbyterian Church 1986 Newark Rd., New London, where friends and family may visit from 10 – 11 am.
Interment will be in New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
