Bonnie McCoy Matthews died peacefully on May 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 21, 1940 in Shamokin, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of South Bend Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. She attended Union College and Ohio State University. Bonnie's life work was being a loving wife and mother, and partnering with her husband in serving people with disabilities at Goodwill Industries.
She was a volunteer at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church for prayer meetings, Stephen Ministries, COP, family promises, bell choir, and greetings. She was a hospice doula at Good Samaritan Hospice, and a volunteer at the Emmaus Community and Heritage United Methodist Home. She was sincerely loved by everyone.
Bonnie's hobbies included painting, pottery, photography, camping, and traveling, especially to far-away places. Throughout her life, Bonnie was constantly serving others, always willing to serve in any way needed through prayers, meals, and visits. She was a committed wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother. She was a loyal and faithful friend. She joyfully cared for anyone that the Lord placed in her life.
Memorial services for Bonnie were held on Sunday, June 10th, 2018, at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, preceded by a concert of Bonnie's favorite music led by Brandon Mock, Greene Memorial music director. The service was conducted by Reverend Gary Heaton.
It is an understatement to say that Bonnie Matthews will be greatly missed by all who came in contact with her.
