Elsie (Wurth) Sherman, 65, was the daughter of Reinhard and Margaret (Miller) Wurth. After graduating from Schenectady's Linton High School in 1961, Elsie graduated from Andrew Carnegie School in Boston and later worked for 25 years at Memorial Hospital in Albany as a medical technologist in the chemistry lab. Elsie moved to Hampden, Maine in 1989. Elsie loved to work in her flower garden. She became a member of the Hampden Garden Club, serving as its president from 1996 to 1999. Elsie later served as Director of Penobscot District of Garden Club Federation of Maine (GCFM). At the time of her passing Elsie served as an active Board member for the Garden Club Federation of Maine. She was a Maine State life member of the GCFM. Elsie was the recipient of the Tri-Color Ribbon for her floral arrangement awarded for "Best-in-Show" at the 2007 Bangor Garden Show. Elsie took great interest in Maine's lighthouses having visited all that can be reached by auto travel.

She is survived by her husband); her son; three step children,; and a sister, Ruth of Niskayuna, NY.
