Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
Linda passed away Saturday night, Dec. 12, at Seton Hospital in Austin.
She was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Burnet to Claude Ellingsworth and Cleo Lee Weeaks Bertling. Linda graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1959 and obtained her bachelor of arts in psychology alongside her daughter from Sul Ross State University in Alpine in 1997, and received her masters of education in counseling from Sul Ross State University the following year.
Linda was very proud to be honored as Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities and was a member of the National Collegiate Honor Society. Linda was able to do this accomplishment at 56 years of age.
Linda cherished her grandson, Haygen, the most. She enjoyed spending quality time with him as often as she could. She was often found speaking of her favorite grandson, "though he was her only grandson."
Sharing photos of Haygen were always happening with Linda.
Linda and her daughter had the most unique and special bond. Linda and Janie were mother and daughter, but they were the closest and best friends. They shared many trials, troubles, and happy times, side by side and hand in hand.
She valued her friends and cousins closely. She loved them so much, and will be greatly missed.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Malinda "Janie "Brown Pate; grandson, Haygen Frank Pate; numerous cousins; and many close friends.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Bible, August Herrington, Charlie Weeaks, Ryan Currer, Billy Jack King, and Scott Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be the class of 1959, Todd Sharron, Bradley Holbrook, Rick Brown, and Neil Wilson.
