Born July 17, 1944 in Haverhill, MA, Elaine was a grateful Christian, beloved daughter, wife, mother, Yiayia, sister, aunt, godmother and friend to many.
She dedicated her life to serving her family and her faith, including being an active member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church community and assistant to the Rev. Father Gerasimos P. Annas.
In 1971, Elaine was the first woman ever elected to a parish council in the Chicago Diocese. She worked tirelessly on behalf of the Philoptochos Society, and also served as a Sunday School assistant director teacher for over 35 years.
In 1991, Elaine received the St. Louis County Bravo Award - as the Civic-Community Volunteer from St Louis County Executive, Buzz Westfall. In addition, Elaine was recognized for her service to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, Missouri State PTA and Hazelwood School District PTA.
Elaine wrote and had published two books, "Mothers of Sons, Sons of Bitches", about the joy of raising three sons; hoping to remain an invited part of their lives forever.
The second book, a cookbook entitled "YiaYia's Kuzina" a collection of favorite recipes from family and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father George, mother Mary, sister Matina and nephew George.
She is survived by her Husband Jim, son Jamie (daughter-in-law Leslie), son Chris (daughter-in-law Christy), son Nick (daughter-in-law Karen), grandchildren Samantha, Jay, Niko, Sofia, Christopher, her namesake Eleni, nephews, nieces, and godchildren.
