MOUNT VERNON - Beverly Irene Riggs, age 82, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount
Vernon, OH.
Beverly was born on August 27, 1935, in Mansfield, OH, to Marshall and Mildred (Robinson) Leiter.
She graduated from Mount Vernon High School, Class of 1953.
She worked for the Mount Vernon City Schools for 37 years.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and served on the Preschool Board.
Beverly was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, HopeNow, Soroptimist of Mount Vernon and Daughters of the American Revolution. Even with all of these commitments, Beverly always put her family first and never missed a ballgame for kids and grandkids.
Beverly is survived by her children, Tammie (Rocky) Canterbury, Julie (Greg) Runkel, Tim Riggs and Tina (Sam) Sovine; her grandchildren, Ryan (Jacie) Canterbury, Brandi (Jason) Kerr, Brittany Canterbury, Amanda Runkel, Jenna (Jay) Hammons, David Sovine, Joshua (Whitney) Riggs, Renee Riggs and Sarah (Raphael) Pacheco; her great grandchildren, Reese, Ryleigh, Briggs, Hadlie, Haidyn, Jayna, Jamison, Katie, Blake, Wyatt, Elena, Sofia, Mac and Selena; her brother, Eugene (Carolyn) Leiter; her sister, Barbara (Norman) Steagall and her very special companion, Bill Bayliss.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth Shira and her second husband, Russell Riggs.
Burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, Mount Vernon, OH.
