Stroke Fatal to Edward Cheney

Edward Cheney, 66 a lifelong resident of Boylston, was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon while at work at Douglaston Manor Farm, Pulaski and died the following day, March 4 1954 in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown.

His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Weston & Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek, the Rev. Leland Webster, pastor of Sandy Creek Methodist church, officiaing. Burial will be in Wesleyan cemetery.

Mr. Cheney was born in the town of Boylston November 25, 1887, the son of the late Dexter and Martha Ridgeway Cheney. He was a veteran of the first World War, having been, wounded in France. He never married, and for a number of years made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Alec Tyfair in Boylston. He was a farmer at one time, and also a lumberman and a teamster. He was skilled in the care of horses and was employed in this capacity at Douglaston Manor. When stricken, he was harnessing one of the teams and was discovered lying between the horses. Before going to Douglaston Manor to work he was employed at the Blount Lumber Company.

He was a friend to all children, and greatly enjoyed their company. Mr. Cheney was a member of Rising Sun Grange of Boylston and a member of the Cable Trail Post V.F.W
