SANDY CREEK- Dexter Cheney died late Thursday night at his home on Ellisburg street following an illness of one week.

Born July 10, 1853 at Dixon Center in St. Lawrence county, he was the son of Quincy and Ellen Smith Cheney. Mr. Cheney lived there 25 years and then received employment at the Syracuse Fish and Co., operating a peddler's truck.

Married to Miss Martha Ridgeway of Boylston, Mr. Cheney lived there until his wife's death in 1920. He was engaged in arming and lumbering, living with his daughter, Mrs. M. M. Outterson until her death six years ago, and more recently with Mrs. Myron Nemier, another daughter. Surviving besides his daughter, Mrs. Nemier of Sandy Creek, are his children, Jennie Clemens and Mrs. Myra Ridgeway of Utica, Edward Cheney of Lacona, Byron Cheney of Pierrepont Manor and several grand-children. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday at his home, the Rev. Herbert Harrison, Methodist pastor officiating.
