Mrs. Bertha L. Ward, 97, widow of C.M. Ward,Jr., died Tuesday May 22, 2018 at Morningside of Georgetown.

Mrs. Ward was born November 23, 1920 in the Carver’s Bay Community of Georgetown. She was the daughter of Darris and Sarah Belle Elliott Cribb.

Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Winyah High School and member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown, where she was a member of the Platt Sunday School Class, the Young As Ever Senior Group, and was formerly a member of the Joy Senior Choir.

She worked at Tomlinson Department Store and also for International Paper Company, where she was one of the first women hired. She was an avid reader and loved growing beautiful flowers, and was a past member of the Day Lily Club.

Mrs. Ward is survived by 3 sons, Bruce C. Ward of Georgetown, Tim C. Ward (Nancy), and Roger L. Ward, both of Murrells Inlet; 5 grandchildren, Beverly Newton, Laurie Newton (Dwayne), Olivia Ward, Jessi McDaniel (Trey) and Timmy Ward; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday May 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Georgetown, with burial to follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
