James Finley Yaryan was the 2nd of 6 children of Andrew S. Yaryan and his 1st wife Elizabeth Burgess.
He came with his family about 1850 from Union County, Indiana, to Wapello County, Iowa. The family moved again to Ada County, Idaho, between 1860 and 1870. He married on December 25, 1879, at Centerville, Iowa, to Hattie Baker.
