Boone, Iowa - Larry Madden, age 80 of Boone, died May 14, 2018 at the Westhaven Community in Boone.
Larry has been cremated and a Celebration of Larry's Life will be Sunday, May 20th from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Gutterridge Shelter in McHose Park in Boone. Please join the family in remembering Larry's life, fellowship, and refreshments.
Larry Lee Madden, was born in Boone, Iowa on November 19, 1937, the son of Leonard V. and Sadie (Craven) Madden. He worked for Boone Construction in Boone, and later for the Boone Community Schools in maintenance, retiring in 2001. After retirement, Larry drove buses for HIRTA and the Boone Community School District.
After high school, Larry married Etta Mae Grady. The couple later divorced. He married Lorraine Barnett and one daughter was born, Kimberly Kay, before divorcing. On April 9, 1965, Larry married Diane Burlingame in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: James Lee, Barbra Jo, and Jon Robert.
Larry loved horseback riding especially quarter horses, was very active in the Boone Saddle Club, and served on the Boone County Fair Board for 16 years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Diane of Boone; daughter, Kim (Bob) Ohge of Boone; son, Jim (Becky) Madden of Boone; daughter, Barbra (Paul) Peterson of Dayton; son, Jon Madden of Boone; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, Leonard JR. (Sandy) Madden of Boone; a brother-in-law, Dennis (Pauline) Burlingame of Lineville; one niece, Wendy (Jim) Duncan of Gowrie; and numerous cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone, is in charge of the arrangements.
