Rachel Leigh Craig
September 28, 1984 – April 24, 2018

Rachel Leigh Craig passed away on Tuesday April 24, at 33 years old, after a lengthy battle with anorexia. She is now living abundantly and perfectly with Jesus Christ.

Rachel was the best person we knew. She lived with hardships and troubles and because of those, grace and love abounded from her. She had mercy for the broken and compassion for the hurting; writing handmade cards and personal notes for people. She loved and expressed her love without inhibition; throwing her arms around you for a hug goodbye or texting a verse of encouragement and “I love you.” She saw the world with appreciation for the little things; never too busy to stop and watch a hummingbird, observe a flower or lend a helping hand. She had a natural wit and quirky humor.

Her knack for the English language drove her affinity for puns and ability to solve the newspaper “Jumble” in under 10 seconds. She constantly read non-fiction, from How-to’s to Scripture. Deemed the family editor, anything we wrote came out looking 10 times better. She had an incredible gifting in writing and words, a talented artist, and a thirst for knowledge and reading, with a constant stack of 20 or more books checked out from the library.

It’s easy to ask why. But the purpose of life is to know God, and secondly, to love others and show Christ to them. She lived constantly dependent on the Lord, praying, listening to worship music and sermons, and memorizing and writing scripture. She saw people in a way others don’t and loved them unashamedly. So when we ask why Rachel had to go, Christ had fulfilled her purpose and He was ready to have Rachel home.
