Carolyn Walter Herron passed from this life on May 18, 2018 in West Jordan.

She was born December 27, 1935 to William J. Walter and Birdie LaPriel Shaw in Provo. Two brothers joined the family later on. The family moved from Provo to American Fork when Carolyn was five years old. She attended American Fork schools, graduating from American Fork High School in 1954.

After high school, Carolyn attended Brigham Young University. After graduating in 1958, she and several friends moved to booming Southern California to teach elementary school. She taught third grade at Lake Marie and Loma Vista schools. During this time, she met her future husband.

Carolyn married Richard Ross Herron on December 28, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children: Richard Ross Herron, Jr. (Kara), Cynthia Herron Glad (Kirby), and Rebecca Herron Bird (Robert).

Carolyn and Dick moved back to Utah after their first child was born. They lived in Tooele, and she taught second grade at Harris Elementary School. Then they moved to Granger, where she substituted while raising her children. She taught her own preschool for seven years. In 1974, the family moved to West Jordan. Six years later, she began teaching kindergarten at West Kearns Elementary. She retired in October 2002 after over thirty years of helping children start their education. Her formal career over, she then taught the neighbor children to read.

Carolyn was active in the LDS Church, constantly serving in ward callings as well as volunteering in the Jordan River Temple. She had a strong, quiet faith and taught her family to have that same faith.

She loved and was beloved by all of her family. Her husband, Dick, preceded her in death on January 10, 2018. She is survived by her three children; two brothers, William Paul Walter (Judy and Bonnie, both deceased) and Richard Martin Walter (Susan); thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Grandchildren include Grant Herron (Kayla), Michael Herron (Rachael), Alexander Herron (McKayla), Matthew Herron, Marcie Glad, Jordan Glad (Kristian), Taylor Glad, Sarah Glad, Jacqueline Bird Abbott (Brendan), Gregory Bird (Rebecca), Corinne Bird, Claire Bird, and Mark Bird. Great-grandchildren include Ethan Abbott, Calvin Abbott, and Milo Herron.
