Sylvia Marie Ruhr was born May 3, 1944, in Odessa, MN. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ester (Zahn) Bucholz. She attended school in Big Stone City, SD. She was united in marriage on May 28, 1969, in Waubay, SD with George Ruhr.
Sylvia moved to Milaca, MN in 1980. She also lived in Ring Gold, GA before moving back to her hometown of Milbank. Sylvia worked as an aide at St. William's Care Center for about 17 years, then most recently worked at Golden Living Center in Milbank. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and working crossword puzzles.
Sylvia Ruhr is survived by her children: David Woods; Roxanne Philippi and Robert Rethfork; Gary and wife Buffie Ruhr; Jodi Ruhr and Tim Bublitz; and Jonny Ruhr; six grandchildren: Sarah and husband Travis Schultz; Tyler, Tasha, and Nicholas Ruhr; Alicia and Corey Bublitz and one great grandchild, Kylie Schultz; three sisters: Lorraine Hoyles; Verna and husband Delton Kruger and Elverda Lokken. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, three brothers and two sisters.
