Jane attended Joplin Junior College and Pittsburg State University, where she received her B.S. in Education. She later received her Master's Degree in Education, also from Pittsburg State.
Jane taught third grade at Eugene Field Elementary School, in Webb City, for 27 years, and became active in the Title I Program. She received the Outstanding Teacher Award in 1993. She was a big fan and supporter of the Webb City Cardinals and while able, never missed attending the home football games.
Jane was a member of the Missouri Selective Service Board and she belonged to the PEO Sisterhood. She loved playing bridge with her many friends. Jane's talent and passion was cooking for friends and family, and her favorite recipes were featured more than once in the Globe's "What's Cooking?" column.
In 1955 Jane married the love of her life, John Earl Campbell. He survives.
Jane is also survived by her loving children, Robert and Cynthia (Cindy). She adored her two grandchildren, Daniel and Clara, and loved nothing more than attending their many Webb City school activities and functions. Jane was also very close to her favorite cousins, Lois (Watson) Spracklen and Frances (Watson) Lewis, who also survive.
Jane and John were active for many years as members of the local Presbyterian churches, and more recently have been members of First Community Church of Joplin.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. this Thursday, May 24, at First Community Church of Joplin, 2007 East 15th Street.
The family would very much appreciate cards, but ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Jane's memory to the Webb City School Foundation, 411 North Madison Street, Webb City, MO 64870.
