Carolyn Jean Chandler Rowland, 82, of Chattanooga, TN, peacefully entered the presence of the Lord Jesus May 21, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Emma Chandler, sisters, Wanita Chandler, Mary Chase, brothers, James and Doyle Chandler, former husband, Dan Rowland.

She is survived by her son Rex Rowland and his wife Casey, her brother Jack Chandler, and special friend Alline Parker, both of Fort Oglethorpe, and several nieces and nephews.

She retired from Royal DeSoto and N-K after many years, and was so proud of her retirement that she worked so hard for. After retirement, around age 70, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her older sister Mary. They were very close until Mary passed last year. She loved her weekly visits with her son and daughter-in-law and eating out at the Epicurean on Friday and Wally’s on Tuesday. She loved her family and Granddog Sandy.

A very special thanks to her older brother Jack and Alline who visited her bedside every day during her 12-day illness. And thanks to Cathy, her hairdresser, with whom she had a great time every Friday getting her hair done and talking. Thanks to Dr. Davy Daniel and his staff who were so professional and kind. Another very special thanks to Katelin, Rose, Angie, Brian and Allen Chandler at the CHI Memorial CCU. They were the best.

And lastly, thank you Jack and Gale O’Dell for providing her with a nice, safe apartment where she lived for nearly 40 years. After Gale passed, Jack continued to provide the same nice, safe home that she loved so much. He was so kind.

She was very active with all the kids in Brainerd where she raised her son. All the kids loved her and she was always there to help any of the neighbors in need. Many times, after working hard all day, she would cook a meal or sit with a sick neighbor or friend elsewhere. She was known for her kind heart and willingness to help.

She believed in God, her Creator and Jesus Christ as her savior. She loved to watch the TV preachers and prayed nightly. So we are comforted to know that as a believer, she is now with her Lord and Savior.

She will be missed by so many and was so loved by all, especially her son and daughter-in-law. We love you so much. Until we meet again.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Friday, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM, Thursday, and 12-1 PM, Friday, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
