A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Heaton was the daughter of the late Jesse R. and Viola "Olla" Crane Lay. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Mount Carmel #1 Baptist Church of Jocassee.
In addition to her husband of the home, Mrs. Heaton is survived by brothers, Christopher Lay of Honea Path, S.C., Clyde Lay of Auburndale, Fla., Verner Lay of Walhalla, S.C., Rufus Lay of Seneca, S.C., and Mason Lay of Seneca, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Poore of Salem, S.C., Sara White of Seneca, S.C., Beatrice Kelley of Walhalla, S.C., Marion Pearson of Walhalla, S.C., Ruth Stegall of Pickens, S.C., Margie Phillips of Honea Path, S.C. and Pauline Murphy of Walhalla, S.C.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Heaton was predeceased by sister, Ruby Dills.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2007, from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home, with burial in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
