James “Richie” Richard Eveland, 77, of Bellflower, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his residence of 22 years, surrounded by his family in Bellflower, Missouri. He was born on July 8, 1940 in Corso, Missouri the son of the late James Nelson and Vivian Irene (Maybary) Eveland.

Richard retired from the Lincoln County Highway Department after 45 years of hard work and dedication. He was an active part of the Hawk Point Fire Department for 35 years and served as Chief for 18 years. Due to his love for the fire department there is now three generations of firemen. Richard’s passion was for dozing, riding horses, hunting and farming. He owned and operated Arkes and Eveland for many years. Richard loved spending time with his family and always had a nickname for everyone. He was a straight shooter and you knew where you stood with him.

He left behind three brothers and one sister: Roger Eveland and wife Terri of Bowling Green, MO, Robin Eveland and wife Noel of Moscow Mills, MO, Robert “Bobby” Eveland and wife Schatzie of Hawk Point, MO and Laura Eveland and husband Don of San Augustine, TX; six children: James Paul Eveland and wife Lisa of Bellflower, MO, Christy McDowell and husband Brad of Fredricktown, MO, Robert Eveland and wife Casey of Bellflower, MO, Angela Sebastian and husband T.H. of Fredericktown, MO, Jenny Williamson and husband Joe of Warsaw, MO and Daniel Eveland of Bellflower, MO; eighteen grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Nelson and Vivian Eveland, one aunt, Eunice Maybary and one nephew, Mark Moore.

Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at KEMPER-MILLARD-KEIM Family Funeral Chapel located at 41 Farm Lane Hawk Point, MO 63349. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Chapel. Interment will be held at the Bellflower Cemetery.
