Obituary for Richard C. Anderson
Richard Carlton Anderson, age 84 of North Branch died on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Cambridge Medical Center in Cambridge.

Richard was born on March 11, 1930 to George and Ethel “Essie” (Brown) Anderson in Mabel, Minnesota. He grew up near Mabel on various farms and graduated from Mabel High School in 1948. In 1949 Richard moved with his family to North Branch where he would live the rest of his life except for two years he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Santa Ana, CA. Richard married Shirley Reese on January 31, 1953 in California. They made their home in North Branch where he worked for the North Branch Municipal Light Plant for 30 years. Richard was superintendent of the Light Plant 1965 to 1985 when he retired. He also served on the North Branch City Council for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and the North Branch American Legion for over 50 years. In his retirement years he grew Christmas Trees and had a Christmas Tree lot in North Branch for many years. He won several blue ribbons at the State Fair for his Christmas Trees.

Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; his son, Dean of Des Moines, IA and his daughter Jill Anderson of Forest Lake. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Heather and Kelly Porath; his brother, Charles (Darla) Anderson of Nisswa as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert.
