Omega had an incredible faith in the God she served daily through her service to others throughout the community and through her active membership at Vineville Baptist Church. She also maintained an associate membership at Highland Hills Baptist Church, where she and Howard both served faithfully together until his passing in 1989.
Omega was the first female loan officer of the First National Bank of Macon where she worked for 21 years. After her retirement, she joined Mass Mutual Insurance working with Andy Watson and Associates. Then she worked in the family owned business, Baconsfield Flower Shop for 23 years. She was the first female elected to the Board of Directors of the Macon-Bibb County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and a Life Member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors. She served on the Board of the Bibb-Jones Unit of the American Cancer Society and was the Past President of the Twiggs-Houston Cancer Society. In 2000 she was honored as Senior Princess of the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival.
She was predeceased by Howard and by five brothers and sisters. The family will be forever grateful to the staff of Magnolia Manor, the staff of Ogeechee Area Hospice, and the staff of Homestead Hospice for their generous care and affection during her final days.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to service time on Tuesday, May 22 at Highland Hills Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Highland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Jake Hall, Dr. William Kremer, and Dr. James Bruner officiating . Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, North Gate.
