Ken was pre-deceased by his wife Margaret (Jacobi). The two were well-known fixtures in St. Marys; they both touched the lives of many in their community. They were affiliates of the Anglican Church, and Ken was a long-time member of the Oddfellows Lodge.

Ken was a construction foreman for the Canadian Pacific Railway, repairing tracks, bridges and buildings all over Ontario. He retired in 1993.

Ken is mourned by his brothers and sisters-in-law Graham & Mary of Thornbury, Stanley, widower in Midland, Donald & Betty in Durham, and Lorne & Barbara in Cambridge. His many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, were all greatly endeared to the man, who they knew simply as "Uncle Ken".
