Ruth Louise Emerson Pike, of Carmel, passed away on her 95th birthday, May 21, 2018, in Elkhart at the home of her son, Steve Emerson.

Ruth was born on May 21, 1923 in Elkhart to Arthur and Sylvia (Canen) Blocher.

In 1945, she married Wayne Emerson who preceded her in death in September, 1998. In April 2000, she married John Pike who also preceded her in death in 2001.

She is survived by three children, Steven (Linda) Emerson of Elkhart, Jeanne (Mark) McFarland of Carmel (with whom she lived), Kim Emerson of Fayetteville, Arkansas and a daughter-in-law, Susan Emerson. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren (Peter (Jody) Emerson, Andrew (Rachael) Emerson, Lindsey (Marcus) Gullett, Ryan (Jane) McFarland, Lori (Austin) Silkey, Eve Briggs, Andrea Briggs), 16 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

A son, Douglas Emerson, preceded her in death as well as her parents and husbands. Also preceding her were her brothers, Howard, Ernest, and Arthur Jr. (Jim) Blocher and sisters, Florence Fadenrecht and Vera Moser.

Ruth had been a member of Beulah Missionary Church in Elkhart and retired from CTS in 1986. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Per Ruth’s wishes, cremation will take place. Elkhart Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
