Lorraine Caroline Shaw, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 12 at St Mary Home in West Hartford.
Born, August 11, 1921 and raised in Lynn Massachusetts, daughter of Villiana and William Fuller, she was one of 11 children. She was Co-Valedictorian of her high school class along with her twin sister, Loretta. She then joined the Marines during WWII. She married John (Jack) Shaw on June 22, 1946. They were married for 46 years as they raised their family and enjoyed welcoming grandchildren and great grandchildren into their lives. She was predeceased by Jack on March 29, 1992.
Lorraine was famous for her love of music, her luck and skill at word games, Jeopardy, card games and especially her ability to pick winners at the racetrack. She loved her horses. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
She was so proud of her family. She was much loved and will be missed by many.
She leaves behind her daughter Arlene (Richard) Burke, her son John Shaw, grandchildren Kate (Jeff) Morneau, Betsy Dolan, Dan (Sarah) Burke, Heather (Dan) Morneau, Andrew, Matthew and William Shaw and their mother, Lois Hines, as well as 9 great grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Blake, Miles, Colin, Maggie M, Maggie B, Brendan and Audrey.
Burial at Connecticut State Veteran Cemetery in Middletown.
