Joseph Nixon, age 90, of Boca Raton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Joseph was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph and Edith Clarkson Nixon. After graduating from Throop High School, PA; he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served in the Mediterranean Sea, Adriatic Sea and North Atlantic Ocean until honorably discharged in 1948. Joseph married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Darcangelo on June 2, 1956. After a successful career, Joseph retired from the IBM Corporation in 1988. His family and Catholic faith were always important aspects of his life; he was a long-time member of Ascension Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Although he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in the knowledge he is safely home in heaven.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Ann Darcangelo Nixon; devoted son Paul Edward Nixon of Manassas, VA; five loving daughters: Rose Ann Nixon of Columbus, OH; Linda Marie Nixon (Gregg) Tone of Boca Raton; Jean Marie Nixon Hull of Boca Raton; Anne Nixon of Brooklyn, NY; and Mary Margaret Nixon (Eric) Beyer of Houston, TX. He also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Alyssa, Cailey & Kieran Tone; Jeffrey Michael Hull; Zane, Jenna & Erica Beyer. He is also survived by his sister Joan Nixon (Tom) Guinane of Longwood, FL; two brothers John Nixon of Simpsonville, SC and Robert (Edie) Nixon of Medford, NJ; sister-in-law Virginia Negri Darcangelo of Corning, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Hugh Nixon and sisters Edith Nixon Morgan, Mary Monica Nixon Kenney and Betty Nixon Javick.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 31 from 4:00-7:00pm at Glick Family Funeral Home, Boca Raton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 1 at Ascension Catholic Church, Boca Raton. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with Military Funeral Honors.

The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, a donation be given to a charity of your choice in loving memory of Joseph Nixon.
