Bill Hudson, beloved husband, father and "papa", passed away on April 29th from complications of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 85.

Bill was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on September 19, 1932 and his family moved to San Jose in 1949. Bill attended James Lick High School and graduated in 1951. Bill received his B.S. in Business at San Jose State University in 1956. After college he served 2 years active duty in Germany, where he played basketball for the Army. When Bill returned to the U.S., he dated, fell in love and married Berta Bowie on October 16, 1960. In 1958 after active duty in the army, Bill landed his first job in the Business department of Stanford University in Palo Alto.

Bill began his second job as Purchasing Agent for the San Mateo Community College District in 1967. By this time, Bill and Berta had relocated to San Jose with their two young daughters Michele and Carrie. The family then moved to Almaden valley in 1973 before leaving San Jose in 1979.

In 1979, Bill and his family moved to Shingletown, CA , and he started his new job as Purchasing Agent for Shasta County Schools. Bill retired in 1992 and since he was an avid fisherman, the Shingletown area provided many lakes for him fish with his father-in-law and friends. Bill continued to be active in the Shingletown community until his Alzheimer's made it impossible for him to do so. Bill and Berta were two of the founding members of the Shingletown Lion's Club. Bill also volunteered to help with the Shingletown Medical center, the water district and the Senior Brown Bag Program.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Everett, his father Pat Hudson, and his step-father Harold Everett. Bill is survived by his wife, Berta Hudson of Shingletown, CA; his sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Bob Foote of San Jose, CA; his half-brother Charles Hudson of Garland, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law Michele and Guy Crowe of Roseville, CA; his daughter Carrie Hudson of Fortuna, CA; and grandsons Daniel and Micah Crowe of Roseville, CA.
