Samuel Arnold, residing at 919 Third St, died Sunday afternoon at his home after an illness of one year, aged 66 years and three months. He had lived in Sandusky the past 27 years. Surviving are the widow, Gertrude Sadler Arnold; three daughters, Miss Esther Arnold, Mrs. Mable Wright and Mrs. Ruth Warren, all of Sandusky; two sons, Bill Arnold, here, and Carl Arnold, U.S. Army; four step-children, Fayette Wright and Nellie Arnold, both of this city, Covell Allen, U.S.A. Army, and Essie Penn, St. Louis; two sisters, Queen Smith of Brooklyn and Eliza Washington, Seneca, S.C.; a brother, Feaster Arnold , Roanoke, Va., and nine grandchildren. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Sandusky Register, Sandusky, Ohio, June 28, 1943. Transcription by Mary Cummins.

He most likely had no middle name. I believe it was "zero" meaning "no middle name." In military reports it states "none" for middle name.
