Colleen was born July 3, 1930 in Helena, MT to Charles and Beatrice Tomcheck. She grew up and attended school in Townsend, MT. She transferred her senior year and graduated from Helena High School. She attended one year of college at the University of Montana. After completing business school in Spokane, WA, Colleen moved to Denver and worked for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company. It was there that she reunited with an old family friend, Jerry Williams. Colleen and Jerry were married June 27, 1955.

Colleen and Jerry made their home in Great Falls, MT, where they raised two daughters. In 1970 Colleen returned to work as the Office Manager for Holiday Village Shopping Center and she remained there during the transition period after the mall was sold to Macerich Corporation. Colleen was divorced from her first husband in 1979.

On July 25, 1981 Colleen married the love of her life, John T. "Jack" Mitchell. They had nearly 35 wonderful years together before his death in 2016. She loved traveling with him all over the country, attending to his various business interests, and she worked with Jack as his trusted business assistant into her late 70's. They spent time between their homes in Great Falls, Baton Rouge, LA, and Carlsbad, CA, and they loved traveling in their Prevost motor home. However, Colleen's favorite place on earth was her home in Carlsbad, which she referred to as "Paradise" and that was where she always happiest.

Colleen was a uniquely gifted interior decorator and she used her talent to help design and furnish many of her husband's commercial buildings, such as The Milwaukee Station in Great Falls, as well as their three homes. She was a strong, determined and independent woman, and she was a wonderful role model for her daughters and her granddaughter. She helped her family immensely, investing in their education, which she felt to be so important. She had a lot of class, and she never left home without being impeccably coifed and dressed, with matching jewelry, shoes and bag, receiving compliments everywhere she went. She was sharp and lived life to the fullest right up until the end. She had a very strong Catholic faith and was well prepared to meet her Lord in Heaven.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Beatrice Tomcheck, her sister Betty Tomcheck, her husband, Jack, and her grandson Nicholas Eldridge. She is survived by her daughters, Carla (Dale) Neiman of Plains, MT and Tami Williams of Missoula, MT.
