Ninian Cloyd was the son of John Cloyd of County Antrim, Northern Ireland. According to Genealogy of the Cloyd, Bayse and Tapp Families in America by Dr. A.D. Cloyd, Ninian married Mary Kinkaid, daughter of Captain John Kincaid of Irish descent. Mary and Ninian had the following known children: James, Nancy, John, Thomas, Sarah, and Jane. Ninian served under Captain Joseph Cloyd in the Revolutionary War. Ninian died in 1810 and is buried in the Cloyd Cemetery at Cloyd's Landing in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
