James Coffey, 69, a native of Boylston, and a resident of this township for many years, passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 1941, in a Utica hospital.

Mr. Coffey was the son of Lafayette and M. Daly Coffey. Born in Boylston, he received his education in schools in the Smartville area. During his life, he spent considerable time in Madison County, following the occupation of a farmer. For the past few years, he had been making his home with his sisters, Mrs. Emma L. Henderson and Mrs. Mary A. Lobdell, southeast of Lacona.

About a year ago, Mr. Coffey slipped on some ice and fell. He never completely recovered from this accident and had been in failing health since.

Surviving besides the two sisters with whom he resided are a son, William of Madison, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Marian Riley, Buffalo; fa brother, William Coffey of Sandy Creek; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 DST, Friday afternoon, with burial in the Wesleyan Cemetery, Lacona. Rev. David Owen, pastor of the local Baptist Church, will officiate.
