Services for Melvin Padgett, 72, of Maxville, Florida will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Maxville Baptist Church with Rev. Percy Knight, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Nolan Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Padgett was a member of the Maxville Baptist church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Padgett; two daughters, Mrs. Annette Neece and Mrs. Marline Godwin both of Maxville; two sons, Willard Padgett of Maxville and William J. Padgett of Middleburg; two son-in-laws, Billy R. Godwin and Fred Neece, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Ann Nolan of Maxville and Mrs. Lula Padgett of Middleburg; a brother, Elwood (Son) Padgett of Jacksonville and four grandchildren. Bearers will be Randolph Crosby, Albert G. Smith, Morris Bell, Ed Hatcher, Ellis Hatcher and George Sculley. Honorary are Ivy Hatcher, Donnie Harris, A. J. Mosley and Leon Harris. Arrangements by Westberry Griffis, Rivermead Funeral Home, Orange Park.
