"Touched by the finger of God, she fell asleep." How beautifully true this expresses the passing away of Mrs. Jennette Chaufty at her home in the Hemlock District, Boylston, Thursday, June 2, 1927. Several weeks previous to her departure, she contracted a severe cold, which developed into penumonia, which despite the best care proved fatal.

She was born at McComb, St. Lawrence county, March 18, 1859, being a daugther of Stephen and Julia Peck of the same town. She was married to John Chaufty in 1883, who with his two sons, Ernest Chaufty, South Hannibal, and Arthur Chaufty, living on the old homestead with his father, survive her.

With the exception of 'a few years' absence, most of her married life has been spent in Boylston, and on the farm where she passed away. She is also survived by two sisters and four brothers.

Her funeral was held Sunday afternoon, June 5, at her late home. A concourse of mourning friends and relatives, were in attendance. Rev. T.T. Davies officiated. Burial in the family lot in Wesleyan cemetery. The floral offering was extensive and beautiful and many were the expressions of sorrow, because of her passing away.

Mrs. Chaufty was a woman greatly beloved by those that knew her. Kind and affable in her disposition, and ever exerting an influence for good in the community where she was so
well and favorably known. She gave to the world the best she had, and the best came back to her. "A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised."
