Born on January 22, 1943 in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Oscar Nathan, Sr., and Virginia (Patterson) Brown. He worked for many years for the New Bethlehem Burial Service.
Oscar was first married to the former Linda Umbaugh, who preceded him in death in 2012. He then married Marilyn Cole, who survives.
When he was younger and his health permitted, Oscar was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He has always been a fan of Pittsburgh sports teams, the Penguins, the Pirates, and the Steelers, even during the down years. As his health declined, he loved watching them on television and remained a devoted fan.
Oscar is survived by his children, son Michael Brown, of New Bethlehem; and daughter Tammy Kline and friend Bobby, of Shippenville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, Leroy Brown of Erie, Ron Brown of Distant, Bill Brown of New Bethlehem, John Brown of Clarion, Bob Brown of Clarion, and Alvin Brown of New Bethlehem; and his sisters, Rosetta Bowser of Climax, Stella Zubick of Sligo, Mary White of Oak Ridge, and Lois Snyder of New Bethlehem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and a brother, Charles.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion, where visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin R. Haley, officiating. Interment will be in the Distant Cemetery.
