Born in Roanoke VA. To the late Griffin B. Atkins and the late Mary W. Kinion. Wayne was of the Baptist Faith; prior to his passing he resided in Irmo, SC.
Wayne was a Retired Computer Technician for the Southeast Hospital Systems. During his time in NJ, he was a Volunteer with the Rescue Squad. He served in The United States Marine Corps; he trained at Parris Island, SC. He also served in the Navy, Army and SC State Guard as well as being a member of the Marine Corps Devil Dogs and a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League.
He was an Active Member in The Marine Corps League 829 and The American Legion 174. During his life he enjoyed many activities to include:Hunting/Fishing, Metal Detecting, Traveling, Bowling, Roller skating, cross-stitching and family activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Griffin B. Atkins, his mother Mary Wilma Atkins and his brother Paul Atkins
