Stacy was born June 19, 1978 to Cindy (Hott) and Bruce Melohn in Keokuk. She was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran church in Storm Lake on Aug. 27, 1978.

She attended kindergarten through grade 12 at Newell and Newell-Fonda Schools. She worked her high school years at Pizza Hut and after graduation she attended AIB (American Institute of Business) in Des Moines. While at AIB, Stacy was a member of the Alpha Iota Sorority. Stacy also received the Presidential Scholar award for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. During her time in Des Moines, Stacy was employed by Chuck Offenberger at the Des Moines Register and was a legal secretary for Larry Scalise and Bud Hockenburg.

Stacy was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. She had one son, Cooper Elliot, who was the love of her life.

Stacy loved music of every kind. She was a great singer and was in many choirs. She and Cooper loved movies. Her favorite movie was Father of the Bride. They both enjoyed watching the Avengers and many Disney movies together. Stacy loved to cook and rarely missed a show on Food Network. She enjoyed eating out with family and friends. Her favorite restaurants were Hu Hot and China House.

Stacy had a compassionate heart and loved her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Cooper Elliot Stief; parents, Bruce and Cindy (Hott) Melohn of Newell; brother, Justin (Theresa) Melohn and nephews: Michael, Drew and Avery of Newell; grandmother, Billie Ann Melohn of Newell; aunts and uncles: Craig and Cory Melohn of Newell; Bud and LuAnn Hott of Newell; John Hott of Richfield, Minn.; cousins: Mitch (Clara) Melohn of Eden Prairie, Minn.; Melissa (TJ) DeSantis and son Oliver of California; Chanda Hott of Urbana, Ill.; Kelly (Aaron) Brock and children; Noah, Cameron and Bayla of Tustin, Calif.; and Nathan Hott of Iowa City; along with many friends.

Stacy was preceded in death by her uncle, Mike Melohn; grandparents, Vern and Ardee Hott and grandpa, Fred Melohn.
