Brig Gen Erastus Wolcott I- Son of Maj Gen Roger Wolcott I and Sarah Drake. His first wife was his first cousin Jerusha Wolcott 1719-1789(daughter of John Wolcott II and Hannah Newberry) Their children included Samuel, Erastus (Infant death) Erastus II, Flavia, Arodi, and Albert.
His 2nd wife was Mary Conyers their children included Mary Wolcott 1764-1842

Erastus Wolcott settled in South Windsor, was repeatedly a Representative of the town in General Assembly and also speaker of the Lower House and Justice of the Peace, Judge of Probate, Judge and Chief Judge of the County Court, Representative in Congress, and Judge of the Superior Court. He held rank of Brigadier-General of Connecticut militia in Revolutionary War. An original member of the Cincinnati. Buried with his wife in old churchyard of South Windsor.

Sacred to the memory Hon. Erastus Wolcott Esq one of the Judges of Hon. Superior Court & General in the Army in the late war. He was a sincere friend of Religion & filled up his important life with usefulness to mankind. Deceased Sept 14th 1793 AE 70
To few & wondrous few has Heaven assigned, A wife a liberal all considering mind.
