Graveside services for Carl E. Kirk, 75, of Wasola, were held Monday, Aug. 9, at Caudle Cemetery in Norwood, with Rev. Jimmie Kyle officiating. Military honors were given by American Legion #112 and VFW 5993..

Mr. Kirk died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. He was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Norwood, the son of Harold and Francis Mree (Royal) Kirk. He married Unalea Acklin in September 1987 in Pasadena, Texas..

He had been a resident of Wasola since 1965. He was a self-employed merchant of a general store and was a member of his own On the Rock Church..

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, being with his family and helping others in need..

Mr. Kirk is survived by six children, Hershel Henry Strong and his wife, Beth, of Gainesville, Edward Eugene Kirk and his wife, Colleen, of Magnolia, Ark., Sandy Lea Kirkover and her husband, Scott, of Marshfield, Wynoka Mree Roberts of West Plains, Steven O. Kirk and Michael David Kirk ; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Jean Hall of Howie, Okla.; and many other relatives and friends..

He was preceded in death by one son Danny K. Torrell; his parents; and one son-in-law, J.D. Roberts..
