Mark Allen Riley, 54, of Effingham died at 9:59 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with Rev. David Speers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Friday, May 18 at the church and for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Fallen Heroes, St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Mark was born on Tuesday, July 16, 1963 in Jacksonville, FL to Larry Eugene and Linda Louise (Cummins) Riley. He married Teresa Rani Peters on June 25, 1988 at the First Baptist Church, Effingham. He retired from the
U.S. Air Force in 2011 after 21 years of service. He was a soil conservationist with NRCS/USDA, Olney. He was a member of St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church, Altamont.

He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Teresa Riley, Effingham; sons, Philip Andrew Riley, Derry, NH and Brenden Wright Riley, Effingham; daughter, Josaphine Nichol (John) Westendorf, Altamont; brother, Michael Curtis (Marlene) Riley, Carbondale; sisters, Patricia Ann (Stan) Childress, Altamont and Pamella Kaye (Dave) Hirtzel, Effingham; 3 grandchildren, Julie Grace Westendorf, Olivia Michelle Riley and June Reilly Westendorf; and his mother, Linda Riley, Effigham.
