Judy Marie Hansen passed away at the age of 71 on Aug. 19, 2013, from complications of an extended battle with rheumatoid arthritis at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena.

Judy was born in Deer Lodge June 15, 1942, to Harold and Eunice Hansen, the eldest of four children. She was raised in Boulder and graduated salutatorian from Jefferson County High School in 1960. She went on to attend MSU and Western Montana College, and later took courses at Carroll College.

Judy was always a part of the family theater business selling tickets and working concessions.

She married Don Hyyppa in 1963, and together had four children. Judy went to work for the State of Montana, Revenue Department, in 1982.

After 25 years of hard work, she retired and took time to enjoy her grandchildren and participate in her many hobbies. Some including quilting, reading, and sewing, yet continued to prepare taxes for the elderly.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hansen.

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Allesandra) Hyyppa , Venice, Calif., Craig (Angel) Hyyppa, Helena, Lisa Hyyppa, Olympia, Wash., and Michael Hyyppa, Helena; mother, Eunice Hansen, Butte; brothers, Mark (Holly) Hansen, Butte, and David (RuthAnne) Hansen, Helena; sister, Lucy (John) Helstrom, Butte; grandchildren, Travis, Tanner, Aleksa and Kolton Hyyppa, Lena and Forrest Anderson, and Jameson Hyyppa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20077 (email to [email protected] ) or the Shriners Children's Hospital Transportation Fund, 314 W. Park St, Butte, 59701.
