MILDRED LUCILLE BATES, age 92, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the Willows at Winchester following an extended illness. She was born in Decherd, Tenn., on January 27, 1926, to the late Charlie Embry Holland and Ethel Mildred Starnes Holland. Ms. Bates was a member of the Estill Springs United Methodist Church. She was employed for several years as a Sales Clerk in Dansville, Virginia while residing there. She was last employed as a sales clerk at Peebles in Tullahoma. She was an avid Braves Baseball fan. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Bates, daughter, Teri L. Bates, brothers; James Holland, Bobby Holland, sister, Marie Glasner. She is survived by her sister, Frances Powers of Estill Springs, sisters-in-law; Shirley (John) Cunningham of Winchester, Esther Gaul of Estill Springs, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Ms. Bates will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services. A Memorial Service is scheduled to follow the visitation on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, with Bro. Dewey Smith and Bro. Joe Rutherford, officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be made to the Estill Springs United Methodist Church at 213 Eastbrook Road, Estill Springs, TN 37330.
