Jane Taylor Wolfe of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully at her home at Sharon Towers after brief illness. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Carl Allensworth and Virginia Easley Taylor Evans. She spent her childhood in her family’s historic home in South Boston, VA. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC in 1943 and Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, VA in 1945. During summer school at Duke University in 1944 she met native Charlottean Daniel Howard Wolfe Jr. After graduation the 2 were married and moved to Charlotte where they were active members of the Charlotte and Blowing Rock communities. She was the Director of Medical Social Work at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now Carolina’s Medical Center Main where she retired in 1983. She served on many boards of organizations during her time at Charlotte Memorial and during her retirement. She was a member of the Myers Park and Blowing Rock Country Clubs, Blowing Rock Methodist Church, Kappa Delta Sorority, the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum, and many other organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe were founding members of Providence United Methodist Church, and they were instrumental in missions and other church activities. She enjoyed spending time with her church family, playing bridge with friends, traveling the globe and searching for antique treasures. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded by her stepfather Edward Livingston Evans III and her brother Edward Livingston Evans IV. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
