Joan C. Dixon, 76, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018 at Presence Saint Anne’s. She was born March 27, 1942 in Genoa, IL, the daughter of John and Freida (Lackner) Gahl.

Joan married the love of her life, Jim Dixon on June 17, 1967. She retired from Barber Coleman as an administrative assistant.

Joan was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing in card club with her neighbors.

Joan loved to travel to Las Vegas with Jim. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews will fondly remember their Aunt Joan for teaching them how to swim in her pool.

Joan is loved and missed by: brother, Harvey (Verna) Gahl; nieces and nephews, Cindy Lundberg, Marlene (Steve) McDonald, Rick (Gina) Koch, Cheryl (Dave) Cravens, and John (Jodi Lorain) Gordon; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Jim; sisters, Arlene Litwiller, and Evelyn Pinne; nephew, Russell Lundberg; and her furry dedicated companion, Smokey.

Funeral service Friday, May 25, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
