Professional Football Player. For eight seasons (1974 to 1976 and 1978 to 1982), he played at the running back position in the National Football League with the New England Patriots. Born Anderson Sidney Johnson, he played football at Athens High School in Georgia and later on the collegiate level at the University of Georgia. While with the Bulldogs, he established himself as one of the school's all time greats at the quarterback position and became known for his scrambling and rushing abilities. Selected by the New England Patriots during the 5th round of the 1974 NFL Draft, he totaled 94 career regular season games. During the course of his career, he formed a highly productive backfield with Sam Cunningham and Horace Ivory. He totaled 2,017 running yards, with 13 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
