Jeannette Normandeau (Martineau) 98, of Sanford, died on Friday, May 11, 2018 in Scarborough.

Jeannette was born in Sanford on July 4, 1919 to Louis and Regina (Baron) Normand. She was orphaned at a young age and was taken in and raised by her aunt and uncle, Clara and Napoleon Lavallee. Growing up she attended the local Catholic schools and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. Jeannette was a talented seamstress and worked at several places before being hired to manage the Aletta Dress Shop in Sanford where she was employed for many years.

Jeannette was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Parish and St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister. She had also been a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit many places including Rome, England, Paris, Las Vegas and Hawaii. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Winter Garden Florida for approximately 15 years. Jeannette was a quiet, shy and humble woman who never wanted to be the center of attention but she never let that hold her back from achieving her goals. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Jeannette was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Martineau, her second husband, George Normandeau and by three siblings, Lionel, Emile and Cecile.
