Judith M.Oliver RSM, 74, a Sister of Mercy for 56 years, died on May 11, 2018 after a brief illness.

Sister Judith was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Lema) Oliver, and sister of the late Elizabeth Oliver. Sister Judy leaves her beloved sister, Patricia Ann Oliver, RSM.

Judith lived her religious motto, "My God I Am Yours" through her compassionate service to others. This was exemplified in her roles as educator, hospice care worker, and grief counselor.

Among Sister Judy's many ministries of mercy was the founding in 1992 of "The Children's Room," a center for grieving children and teenagers in Arlington, MA. In the tradition of Sister Frances Warde, American foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, Sister Judy became a part of a pastoral team serving the Penobscot Native American Tribe at Indian Island, ME from 2007-2014.

We especially remember Judith for her elegant style and flair for the dramatic in life. Most evident to us was her profound trust in God's loving care and presence in all creation. Behind all Judy's elegance and flair was a simple, compassionate, Portuguese woman who lived "Mercy" in all that she did.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Mercy Prayer Service at 10:40 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sister's memory to the Sisters of Mercy, 15 Highland View Road, Cumberland, RI 02864 will be appreciated. Information and condolences please visit: www.galloglyfuneralhome.com
